School Plays

COSTUMES
If you have any of these items, please email  me and let me know. I will list everyone and what they need for the play. Everyone needs to wear "thin" clothes because we will have to put the costumes over them. Please no jeans or jean shorts. Girls do not need to wear a dress or skorts. Please no "puffy" anything. They can wear leggings or shorts. Boys please wear a shirt with no collar and shorts that are not cargo shorts. Please let them dress nice because this is what they will wear when they are reading their reader parts.

Ava and Layne= brown socks, brown ears
Jackson= Brown pants and shirt, brown ears
Tanner= Brown socks

Houston= slip on shoes
Addie= white socks, white bunny ears and a white shirt
Abigail, Elizabeth, and Emma= white socks and white bunny ears
Tyler= overalls and farmer's hat

Kate= white socks
Bryant, Grace, and Gini= black socks

Carter= brown, gray, or white pants, shirt, and socks
Parker= green shirt
Charlee= brown socks
Britton= white or gray pants,top, and socks (ears or tail if you can find them)


I will need a plastic hoe, real carrots, lettuce (bigger the better) if you have any of these items let me know. We use real carrots and lettuce.














Layne
Middle goat= Three Billy Goats Gruff

Middle Goat:    Come on, let’s go now.



Middle Goat:    Clip Clop, cop clip. (gets to the middle of the bridge)


Middle Goat:    It is me, Middle Billy Goat Gruff.


Middle Goat:    Oh, Please don’t eat me. I am much too thin, as you can see. My other brother is coming after me, and he is much bigger than me.


All Three Goats:           Mmmmmmmm, delicious!!!

Now that you’ve seen us perform our plays,
It’s time to take a bow and say,

The Tortoise and the Hare
Reader 2= Hare took off quickly, leaving Tortoise behind. Dog looked at Tortoise.


Reader 2=  Hare lay down and went fast asleep. While Hare slept, Tortoise caught up with him. He kept going and slowly moved past him. Dog and Mouse saw this and ran over to Hare and tried to wake him up.


    Emma
Peter Rabbit= Cottantail
Cottontail:
We remembered what happened to Father, and we won’t go neat Mr. McGregor’s garden!
Cottontail:
Peter has on his new jacket and new shoes. He’d better not lose them!

Bunnies:
Peter should mind Mother!! (Take a pail and exit)
Welcome= Reader 1
Welcome! We’re so-o-o glad you’re here!
We invite you to sit back and get ready for some fun!
We’re here to entertain you and put smiles on everyone!

Goldilocks= Reader 4
Reader 4:         Soon Goldilocks begins to feel sleepy (Goldilocks yawns) and she goes over to the bedroom and jumps right on the huge bed!!

Reader 4:         Goldilocks fell asleep. As she was sleeping, the three bears came home and went into the kitchen.

Goldilocks= Papa Bear

Papa Bear:       Someone’s been eating my porridge

Papa Bear:       Someone’s been sitting in my chair!

Papa Bear:       Someone’s been sleeping in my bed!

Three Bears:     Good-byeeeeeeee! (Waving their hands together)

Welcome= Reader 2
Our first play is about Three Billy Goats Gruff
And a mean, ugly troll who is tough, tough, tough!!

Peter Rabbit= Reader 2

Reader 2:
Peter would not mind his mother. Peter would not mind his brother and sisters. Peter was very naughty. He ran and ran and ran straight to Mr. McGregor’s garden. There’s Mr. McGregor now. Will he see Peter slipping in. (Peter enters quietly) Please Mr. McGregor Don’t catch Peter! Don’t put him in a rabbit stew!


 Kate
Goldilocks= Goldilocks

Goldilocks:       I am thirsty! I will go over there, maybe they can give me a glass of water

Goldilocks:       Hello, Hello…..is anyone home…..is anyone home?

Goldilocks:       Oh, I am so hungry! AHH, porridge my favorite!! ( Takes a bit of Papa Bear’s porridge). This porridge is too hot! ( Takes a bit of Mama Bear’s porridge) This porridge is too cold! (Takes a bit of Baby Bear’s porridge) Ahh, this porridge is just right!

Goldilocks:       I am so tired! I’ll sit in one of those chairs and rest for a while….then I will leave. (She sits in Papa Bear’s chair) This chair is too big! (She sits in Mama Bear’s chair next) This chair is too big, too! (Then she sits in Baby Bear’s chair) Ahh, this chair is just right!

Goldilocks:       AHHHH!!!!

Goldilocks:       This bed is too hard. (Then she lay down on the 2nd bed) This bed is too soft. (Then she lays down on the 3rd bed) This bed is just right!

Goldilocks:       Help!!!

Three Billy Goats Gruff= Reader 2

Reader 2:         The billy goats decided to go over to the green hills to eat the rich green grass. To get to those green hills they had to cross a bridge where a big, bad troll lived. They thought it would be best to go one at a time. Little Billy Goat was the first to go.


 Tyler
Peter Rabbit= Mr. McGregor

Mr. McGregor
(Looks and points) Do I see a rabbit in my garden? That is a rabbit!! (Shakes a hoe in the air) I’ll catch him and have rabbit stem for supper tonight. (Chases Peter)


Mr. McGregor:
(Looks around) Now just where did that silly little rabbit hide?

Mr. McGregor:
I heard that sneeze! He’s got to be here. There he goes! (Peter drops his jacket and shoes. Mr. McGregor grabs them) He got away again, but I got his little jacket and little shoes.

Three Billy Goats Gruff= Reader 4

Reader 4:         So the Big Billy Goat Gruff put his head down and hit the Troll in the stomach and threw him off the bridge.

Reader 4:         The Troll was never seen again and the Three Billy Goats Gruff finally tasted the sweet green grass they could only see from the other side of the hill.





 Gini
Goldilocks= Baby Bear

Baby Bear:       Someone’s been eating my porridge and they ate it all up!!( All three bears go into the living room)

Baby Bear:       Someone’s been sitting in my chair and they broke it!!

Baby Bear:       Someone’s been sleeping in my bed and she’s still there!
Three Bears:     Good-byeeeeeeee! (Waving their hands together)

As we read, studied, and acted out each play,
Some lessons were learned along the way.


The Tortoise and the Hare= Reader 4

Reader 4= Dog, Mouse and even Hare followed Tortoise. As they walked, they chanted the lesson Tortoise had just taught them; As you move from place to place, Sole and steady wins the race!!


Tanner
Three Billy Goats Gruff= Troll

Troll:    (jumps out from beside bridge) Who dares to go across my bridge?

Troll:    Then I will eat you.

Troll:    Hmm, All right, I will wait for him! You may go but make it snappy!

Troll:    Who dares to go across my bridge!

Troll:    Oh yes, your brother told me about you. I was waiting for you. He was right he was too small for me. I am going to eat you!

Troll:    Really? He’s bigger than you? Hmmmmmmmmm. Then I will wait for him. You may go.

Troll:    Who dares to go across my bridge!

Troll:    I was waiting for you! I am so hungry that you will be my supper now!!

Troll:    Ouch!!!

The Tortoise and the Hare= Reader 3
Reader 3=  Dog and Mouse ran to catch up with Tortoise. They watched as he crossed the finish line.

Reader 3= Hare woke up and couldn’t believe his eyes and ears.


Houston
Peter Rabbit= Peter

Peter:
(Hoping around): I like sweet rolls. Yummy!!

Peter:
You bunnies go on. I don’t want to pick old blackberries!  I want to eat some lettuce and carrots from Mr. McGregor’s garden

Peter:
You bunnies are silly. I’ll have more fun that you!  (He exits)

Peter:
 Look at all this food! I’m hungry. I’ll eat some lettuce and carrots.

Peter:
Here comes Mr. McGregor. I’d better get out of here, fast!! Hey, where’s the gate? I’m lost!! (Both run around the stage, but Peter gets away and hides behind some plants)

Peter:
KER-CHOO! KER-CHOO!!

Peter:
(Panting): That was close! If I could find the gate, I’d run home. (Sits down)
I’m lost.  

Hey, there’s the gate over there. I’ll run fast so Mr. McGregor won’t see me. (He hops off as Mr. McGregor shakes a hoe at him)

Peter:
(Sadly) I went to Mr. McGregor’s garden. Now I’m sick

Peter:
My stomach hurts. That tea tastes awful! (Groans: lies down.)

Peter:
Yes. Mother!! (Groans loudly)

Goldilocks = Reader 5

Reader 5:         Then the three bears decided to look around some more and when they went upstairs to the bedroom, Papa Bear looked unhappily at his bed.



Abigail
Peter Rabbit= Flopsy

Flopsy:
We’ll remember.

Bunnies:
Peter should mind Mother!! (Take a pail and exit)

Bunnies:
Don’t you remember what Mother said? Don’t you remember what happened to Father Rabbit?

Flopsy:
Oh, Peter is a bad bunny!!

Bunnies:
Peter should mind Mother!! (Take a pail and exit)


Three Billy Goats Gruff= Reader 1
Reader 1:         Once upon a time there were Three Billy Goats Gruff. They lived together on the side of a mountain. On their mountainside there was very little to eat, but across the way there were hills of rich green grass.





 Jackson
Three Billy Goats Gruff= Big Goat

Big Goat:          We have to go there. The grass over there looks greener!

Big Goat:          Because you are the smallest and I have a plan.

Big Goat:          Clop Clop, Clop Clop (gets to the middle of the bridge

Big Goat:          It is me, the biggest, meanest Billy Goat Gruff around.

Big Goat:          Oh, we will see about that. It won’t be easy, because I am stronger than you!

Big Goat:          Come little brothers, it’s time to eat our delicious green grass.

All Three Goats:           Mmmmmmmm, delicious!!!


Goldilocks= Reader 2
Reader 2:         While the bears are gone, someone else is taking a walk in the forest, too. Her name is Goldilocks.

Reader 2:         She finds the door to the bears’ house open, so she decides to go in.
Reader 2:         At the table in the kitchen, there were three bowls of porridge. First she tastes Father Bear’s porridge in his huge bowl.


 Elizabeth
Peter Rabbit= Mopsy

Mopsy:
Yes, Mother. We’ll be good.

Mopsy:
Mr. McGregor may catch Peter and put him in a stew!!

Bunnies
(Waving) See you later.   (They take a pail and start to exit)


Bunnies:
Don’t you remember what Mother said? Don’t you remember what happened to Father Rabbit?

Mopsy:
Mr. McGregor may catch Peter and put him in a stew!!

Bunnies:
Peter should mind Mother!! (Take a pail and exit)

Three Billy Goats Gruff= Reader 3

Reader 3:         So the little goat started to cross the bridge. But the steps on the wood woke up the troll.

Reader 3:         Soon the Middle Billy Goat came over the bridge. The noise on the wooden bridge made the troll go up to the bridge.

Reader 3:         Soon the biggest Billy Goat Gruff came over the bridge. The noise he made on the wooden bridge made the Troll go up to the bridge.

Ava
Three Billy Goats Gruff= Little Goat

Little Goat:       Me? Why do I have to go first?

Little Goat:       You’re right. I will go first. (waves) Good-Bye

Little Goat:       Clip Clop, clip clop (gets to the middle of bridge)

Little Goat:       (trembling and scared) It’s me, Little Billy Boat Gruff.

Little Goat:       Oh No! Don’t eat me! I am too little. I’m hardly even a snack for you. I’m going to the hills to fatten up. Wait for my brother, he is much bigger than I am!

Little Goat:       Thank You! Thank You!

All Three Goats:           Mmmmmmmm, delicious!!!

The Tortoise and the Hare = Reader 1

Reader 1= One sunny day in the forest, Dog and Mouse were sitting around talking. All of a sudden Hare ran up to them. He jogged in place as he spoke to them.

Reader 1= At that moment Tortoise appeared. He was walking very slowly towards the group.









 Grace
Goldilocks= Mama Bear

Mama Bear:     Someone’s been eating my porridge, too!

Mama Bear:     Someone’s been sitting in my chair, too!

Mama Bear:     Someone’s been sleeping in my bed, too!

Three Bears:     Good-byeeeeeeee! (Waving their hands together)

Welcome= Reader 4
Our last play, Peter rabbit, is about a naughty fellow with a bad habit
Of not minding his mother!
He should be more like his sisters,
This daring little brother!

Peter Rabbit= Reader 4
Reader 4:
We are so-o-o glad that Mr. McGregor did not catch Peter and put him into a rabbit stew. Aren’t you? And that’s the story of Peter Rabbit!



 Addie
Peter Rabbit= Mother Rabbit

Mother Rabbit:
Children (children gather around). I must go to the store to get some sweet rolls for supper tonight. I want you to take this pail and go pick some nice blackberries to eat with them. Now please be very careful! Don’t go into Mr. McGregor’s garden! (Shakes finger) Remember what happened to your father? He was caught and put into a rabbit stew!

Mother:
Now be good. (She exits with basket and umbrella)

Mother:
Peter, where have you been?

Mother:
(Shakes her finger) Peter, what am I going to do with you? You’ve lost your jacket and shoes too. Off to bed. It’s chamomile tea for you. (Peter goes to bed. Mother feeds him tea from a large spoon)

Mother:
No blackberries or sweet rolls for you, Peter. You must learn to obey your mother.

Goldilocks= Reader 3

Reader 3:         After she had eaten all of Baby Bear’s porridge, she decided she was feeling a little tired. She walks into the other room and finds three chairs. First, she sits in the Papa Bear’s huge chair.
Reader 3:         But just as Goldilocks settled down into the chair, it broke into pieces!!


Carter
The Tortoise and the Hare= Hare

Hare= What a beautiful day!! It makes me feel like running a race. Would you like to race with me Dog?

Hare=  You’re so right, Dog! Hey, Mouse. How about you? Will you race with me?

Hare= You’re so right! I’m the fastest animal around. I’ve never been beaten in a race!!

Hare= You? You must be joking!! You are so slow. You could NEVER win!

Hare= No, you can’t!!

Hare= No, you can’t!!!

Hare= Well, O. K. But everybody is going to be laughing at you when you lose. Hey Dog and Mouse, help us out please.

Hare= Yahoo!!

Hare= That tortoise will never catch up to me. I’ll just stop and take me a short nap under this nice, shady tree.

Hare= Huh? What? What’s going on?

Hare= I have plenty of time. Just let me nap!

Hare= What? What! WHO won?

Hare= A turtle won! But…..but….I’m the fast one!!

Hare= How about another try? One more race? I know I can beat you this time!




Peter Rabbit= Reader 3
Reader 3
Run, Peter Rabbit!! Run fast!! You’ve lost your jacket, Peter!! You’ve lost your new shoes too!! You disobeyed your mother, Now what will you do?


Charlee
The Tortoise and the Hare= Dog

Dog= No, Not me! I can’t run fast enough to beat you!

Dog=  Be glad to, Hare. On your mark…get set….

Dog= You’ll have to move a little faster if you want to win.

Dog= Hare! Wake up!

Dog= Fine…go back to sleep.

Dog= Congratulations!! You did it. YOU BEAT HARE!!

Dog= May we come along?


Godilocks
Welcome= Reader 3
Next, you’ll meet three bears and a little girl who is very curious!
Get ready for Goldilocks and the Three Bears

Reader 1

Reader 1:         Once upon a time, in a deep, shady forest lived three bears- Papa Bear, Mama Bear, and Baby Bear. One morning Mama Bear made delicious porridge for breakfast, but it was too hot. So they decided to take a walk in the forest while the porridge cooled.


Parker
The Tortoise and the Hare= the Tortoise

Tortoise= I will race with you.

Tortoise= I can beat you.

Tortoise= Yes, I can!

Tortoise= Yes, I can!!

Tortoise= Yippydoo!!!

Tortoise= This is as fast as I go, step by step, step by step.

Tortoise= One, two. One, two. Set a pace and soon you’re through. There’s the finish line……I WIN!!!

Tortoise= I did!!

Tortoise= Sorry fast one. The only thing you do fast is go fast asleep. I may be slow but I didn’t quit! And I won!! I learned this lesson from my wise old Grandmother Tortoise: As you move from place to place, slow and steady wins the race.

Tortoise= Maybe tomorrow. Right now I must go to the pond.  A duck is waiting there for me and he wants to see who the faster swimmer is.

Tortoise= Of Course!

Goldilocks= Reader 6

Reader 6:         Goldilocks awakens and sees the Three Bears. She is frightened and jumps out of the bed.

Reader 6:         Goldilocks ran away into the forest and she never returned to the home of the three bears.



Britton
The Tortoise and the Hare = Mouse

Mouse= Me? Not me!! You’re too fast for me!

Mouse= Go!

Mouse= Come on!! We have to wake up Hare!

Mouse= Tortoise is winning! Get going!

Mouse= Way to go!!

Once upon a time, A long time ago, There was a Rabbit Family. They lived in a big hole under a big, big tree.
